5 Breweries (and Wineries) Around Lake Winnipesaukee
It’s no secret that locally made brews pair perfectly with a day of boating. And here in the Lakes Region, we’re lucky to be surrounded by amazing breweries and wineries dotting the shore. Whether you’re searching for a fun spot to relax with the family, or a place to grab beer or wine to go, we have you covered with this list of our favorites – all within boating distance from Melvin Village Marina!
Twin Barns Brewing Company (Meredith location)
Situated in an antique barn from the 1850s (technically, two barns joined together), Twin Barns Brewing Company’s Meredith location is a family-friendly destination for great food and beers. On tap, you’ll find everything from IPAs and blondes to a fruited sour and even a house cider. Take a sip and unwind in the beer garden, which is decked out with Adirondack chairs and outdoor games. Hungry? Fill up with a bite to eat from the Silo food truck!). Visit on a Friday or Saturday this summer and you’ll be treated to live music.
Creative, out-of-the-box beers are the specialty of Burnt Timber, a Wolfeboro brewery that comes complete with a scratch kitchen and beer garden. The tap list here is constantly rotating, but you might find beers like the Busty! Farmhouse Blonde, a farmhouse ale fermented on peaches and apricots, or the Cranberry Sauces, a cranberry session mead. House-smoked barbecue, burgers, and more are on the food menu, and a playground and ballpark across the street make this a perfect place to bring the kids.
Opened in 2014, Lone Wolfe was true to its name as the first craft brewery on Lake Winnipesaukee. Now a destination in downtown Wolfeboro, the 100-seat taproom pours a balanced mix of brews, from blondes and pale ales to amber lagers and stouts. It’s worth checking out their Summer Music Series for live entertainment, you’ll find below their social links which contain details for upcoming shows:
Who says beer doesn’t go with Italian food? This taphouse in Center Harbor, the brew-focused branch of Gusto Italian Cafe, effectively marries the two with a full menu of craft beer from Notch Brewing Company (don’t worry, there’s a wine and cocktail list too!). Classic Italian favorites from pizza to pasta frequently turn first-time customers into regulars. One thing is for sure: you certainly won’t leave hungry!
If you’re more of a wine person, we have the perfect spot for you. Hermit Woods Winery in Meredith is a mecca for imaginative wines, farm-to-table food, and memorable live music. This isn’t just any winery: Hermit Woods creates wines (as well as ciders and meads) from local ingredients that go beyond grapes. Think red wines made with blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries, and whites made with peaches, plums and kiwi berries. Before you visit, be sure to browse the events calendar for upcoming performances in the Loft.
